Adirondacks: Flight
In a word, our friend Jake is: rad. He’s brought youthful energy to the town council. His Adirondack chairs are made of neon vintage skis. He makes a hobby of flipping 1980’s BMW M3’s—at this point, twenty times over. And he’s the kind of guy that doesn’t think twice about driving one of his rafting buses to help you pick up a 21-foot rowing shell a couple towns over—just throw it down the aisle. He owns Adventure Sports Rafting Company and Adirondack Lake Cabins.
Jake is one of a handful of a Adirondacks aviators who fly Piper Cubs around the lakes. Learn more in these beautiful mini-docs.
We went up in Jake’s 1941 Piper J-3 Cub, used as a training plane at Syracuse before the war. The images below include photos of the 50 Piper Cubs from the University’s archives. Learn about the Smithsonian’s ‘41 Piper Cub, NC 35773, here—Jake’s is NC 35658.
